Breast Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI)
In a commitment to provide the latest, state-of-the-art equipment, North Cypress Medical Center is equipped with the Dilon 6800 Gamma Camera to provide Breast Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI). This device serves as a complementary diagnostic tool to detect breast cancer when post-mammogram evaluation is indicated. BSGI can help physicians detect early stage cancers, identify suspicious and difficult-to-interpret breast abnormalities, and differentiate between benign and malignant tumors.
BSGI is not a screening tool but a diagnostic tool to help patients that require an adjunctive examination to mammography, particularly high-risk women with questionable mammograms; those with dense breasts, palpable lumps that can’t be seen with mammography or ultrasound; and those with known cancer and lesions that mammography may have missed.
