Non-invasive Procedures

24 hour holter monitor application

A portable device for continuously monitoring the electrical activity of the heart for 24 hours or more.

EKG

An Electrocardiogram is a test that records the way the electrical signals move through the heart.

Cardioversions

The process by which an abnormally fast heart rate or cardiac arrythmia is terminated by the delivery of a therapeutic dose of electrical current to the heart.

Echocardiograms

A cardiac ultrasound of the heart using recorded image and Doppler evaluation.

Transesophageal echocardiograms

TEE is an alternative way to perform an echocardiogram. Image and Doppler quality is enhanced using this technique.

Nuclear and treadmill stress tests

A test performed to evaluate blood flow to the heart during physical exercise on a treadmill. A nuclear stress test uses a radioactive isotope injected through an IV and picked up by the heart muscle cells.

Stress echocardiograms

The ultrasound portion of the test is performed in the same way as an echocardiogram. Exercise or medication is used to increase the heart rate and show how well the heart works under exertion.
