Concussion Management Program
Symptoms of a concussion may include any of the following:
*Headache, nausea, vomiting, balance problems, dizziness, visual problems, fatigue, sensitivity to light/sound, numbness and tingling
*Feeling mentally foggy or slowed down, difficulty concentrating or remembering, memory loss, slow to answer
*Irritability, sadness, nervousness, emotional, drowsiness, sleeping more or less than usual or difficulty falling asleep
Most concussions resolve on their own within 7 - 10 days. When symptoms persist greater than 10 days a person may be diagnosed with post-concussive syndrome. When a person experiences protracted recovery time intervention from a concussion trained physician, neuropsychologist, and physical therapy may be necessary. Symptoms of migraine and dizziness immediately after impact are the greatest predictors of protracted recovery time.
A concussion doesn't just delay your return to the game, but can also delay your return to life, including school and work. An effective Concussion Management program can help reduce the severity of symptoms, decrease recovery time and get you back "in the game."
